Cell Phones and Your Health

Posted by: Editor  /  Category: Cell Phones

The growing use of cell phones has sparked an international debate: is using a cell phone a health risk or not? Some people think that they are.

Cell phones, like microwaves and televisions, emit radioactive waves whenever they are turned on. In the past, the radiation emitted by these appliances was not given much notice, but with the renewed emphasis towards the healthy lifestyle, it is beginning to receive media attention. With millions of people now using cell phones, the issue is becoming a very salient one.

Since cell phone technology is relatively new, there is no long-term evidence on the effects of the cell phone radiation on the human body. Some tentative research, however, points to a small body of evidence that seems to indicate that cell phone use leads to the development of cancer. This is especially true for people who use cell phones on a very frequent basis. Overall, though, there is no agreement on whether cell phones are as harmful as some people would have you believe.

Perhaps a more sinister (and valid) reason to label the cell phone as a health risk is when it is used while driving. Several studies have now conclusively proved that using a cell phone while on the wheel dramatically increases the chances of an accident. Some research studies have even concluded that using a cell phone while driving is just as risky as driving under the influence of alcohol.

Cell Phone Accessories, Part Two

Cell phone accessories can help you utilize the full potential of your phone. Whether you want your phone to perform at a higher level, or simply want it to look good, the proper accessories can definitely get you going in the right direction.

Here is another list of cell phone accessories:

Hands-frees. Hands-free sets are equipment which allows you to use your cell phone unit without using your hands. Hand-free sets usually include speakers, earphones, and miniature microphones. Some hands-frees come with radios as well. Hands-free sets are important if you intend to drive while using your mobile phone. Most states require that drivers use hand-frees when using their cell phones and driving at the same time.

Bluetooth. Bluetooth is not really an accessory; it’s more of a capability. Without going into specifics, a cell phone that is Bluetooth-enabled can participate in an automatic, wireless network that allows for faster sharing of information, eliminating any needs for the physical cables that would otherwise be necessary.

Antenna Booster. Antenna boosters improve the reception capabilities of a cell phone. This accessory is especially useful in areas where cellular signals are weak, such as in tunnels, mountains, etc.

Data cable. This accessory allows you to transfer files from your cell phone to another device, such as a personal computer.

Faceplate. This is the casing of the cell phone, or its “design”. Changing the faceplate of your phone can give it an entirely different look.

Phone Strap. Also known as a carrying strap, this item allows you to carry your cell phone more conveniently, such as around your neck.

Belt Clip/Holster. This accessory allows you to clip on your phone to your belt, eliminating the need to hold it in your hand or keep in your pocket.

Cell Phone Accessories, Part One

Using your cell phone is as simple as it gets, but there are some items on the market that can still improve the performance of your phone. Some of these accessories are necessary to get the most out of your phone; some are not. Depending on the functions that you want your phone to fill, you will probably need to get a variety of accessories.

Here is a short list of some cell phone accessories:

Cellular Battery. This is the lifeline of your cell phone. Your cell battery is what powers the phone, allowing you to use it even if it is not plugged into an electric outlet. One cell battery usually comes with a phone, whenever you purchase the latter.

Battery Performance Enhancer. This is usually a small chip or device that is attached to the cell battery. When in place, it improves the longevity of the battery, allowing you to use your phone for a longer period of time without having to recharge.

AC Charger. Unless you want to buy a new battery every few days, an AC charger is a must for you. You plug in an AC charger in an electric outlet and it recharges your cell battery.

Car Charger. If you travel a good deal using your car, a car charger is a good accessory for you. This item allows you to charge up your phone even when you’re on the road, which means that you don’t have to wait until you’re home so you can power up your cell battery.

Anti-radiation devices. Due to the possible health risk that cell phones may pose, anti-radiation shields and films were invented. Anti-radiation shields intercept radioactive waves that are emitted by your phone.
